How to Add Effects on Titles in Adobe Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro is an editing software, it’s arguably the main software that is been used by many editors today. This blog is however not for the pros but for those who are still trying to get to know all what premiere pro can do. You will agree with me that TITLES added to your video footage create a good virtual excitement for your viewers and the way you type, arrange, place colour and effects determines the degree of excitement and creativity that your viewers would applaud you for. Let’s get started on how to add effects to titles.

Step 1: Open the title box in premiere pro by pressing Ctrl+ t in the New title dialog box type in the required setting that will match your video footage as shown below.

Step 2: In the main text dialog box type your text by clicking any area around the square box that is either in black or contains your footage and type your text

Step 3: Then begin to add effects on your text by going to the right corner of the text box.
Note: since this blog is not about writing and placing your title properly I will   not talk about it now. You can play    around with all the features

Step 4:  in the main effects there are; Transform Properties, Fill, Strokes, Shadows and Background. Each of them has a drop down arrow that you can click on to allow you to use their various features in other to get desired result.

Step 5: Click on the drop down arrow of the transform and position your text the way you want it to be by increasing or reducing the values in yellow. To do this place the cursor on any of them, click and slide front or back, remember to Observe the effects of what you do on your text. In Transform you can adjust the opacity, X position, Y position, width, height, and rotation of your text respectively.
Note: this same method can be used in all other effects such as text properties etc.
Step 6: you can also add shapes to the background of your text by clicking on any of the shapes  at the left corner of the title dialog box, a plus sing [+] will appear, move it into the text area and drag it to the size and shapes you want. You can change the look and shape of the text or shape by going to Distort in the properties menu. To send the shape to the back of your text RIGHT click on the shape > go to arrange >click on send to back.
Step 7: You can also change the styles of your text by going to the bottom of your text dialog box and select the style you want.

Step 8: You can equally add an image in your text or titles. To do this Go to the Main effect at the right corner of your title dialog box > click on fill on the drop down arrow  click on texture to tick it  > in a little square box close to the texture double click in it > locate the image you want to use and click on it. The image will automatically fill the text.

Step 9: when you are done adding all the effects you want, simply click ok and the full window of premiere pro is restored. To place the title on the timeline where your video footage is, simply drag the title from the preview screen to the timeline. Add transitions and you have it.
I believe you were practicing the above steps along with your premiere pro .In our next blog you will learn how to animate your titles to sooth what you need. Please drop your questions.
